UPDATE: GiveNCW campaign will help buy more AEDs

Every second can mean the difference between life and death. When sudden cardiac arrest strikes, Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) give bystanders the power to save a life — but only if these devices are close at hand and ready to use.

Cascade Medical Foundation is continuing its effort to add more AEDs throughout the greater Leavenworth area.

Funds donated this year to CMF through GiveNCW, the online giving campaign hosted by the Community Foundation of NCW, will be used help place more AEDs in key locations across the Upper Valley and keep existing units in top condition with fresh batteries and pads.

AEDs are designed for anyone to use. They analyze the heart's rhythm and, if needed, deliver a life-saving shock — with clear, step-by-step instructions in English and Spanish. Your donation isn't just equipment. It's peace of mind. It's a chance to save a neighbor's life. Please give today and help make our community safer for everyone.

Community AEDs installed, ready to save lives

Residents and visitors have access to more than 30 potentially life-saving automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in the downtown Leavenworth core.

The Wi-Fi enabled AEDs, which analyze a heart’s rhythm and, if necessary, deliver an electric shock to those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest, are easy to use, with instructions in English and Spanish.

Fundraising to purchase the life-saving devices has been ongoing since 2021, organized by Cascade Medical Foundation and Cascade Medical, with support from the Cascade School District, Leavenworth Chamber of Commerce, the city of Leavenworth, Leavenworth Rotary, Confluence Health & Wenatchee Valley Medical Group Community Fund as well as individual donations made through the Community Foundation of NCW's online fundraising site, GiveNCW.org.

Many individual businesses and organizations also have purchased devices. (If your business has a device and would like to be included on the list, please email details to [email protected])

Cascade Medical Foundation is continuing to work with Cascade Medical to expand the availability of AEDs throughout the community.
