Cascade Medical’s Emergency Medical Services Department is offering a free community CPR class from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, at the Leavenworth Fire Station Community Room, 228 Chumstick Highway, Leavenworth.
The class, geared for age 8 to adult, is for everyone interested in learning to save a life. Instruction covers cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques, which use chest compressions to keep blood flowing after someone's heart stops beating. Starting CPR quickly can double or triple the chances of survival of someone suffering from a cardiac arrest. The class also provides an introduction and overview of the automated external defibrillators (AEDs), devices that can help restart a heart that has stopped.
Class size is limited to 20 people. To sign up, send an email to [email protected] or call 509-669-3792.
