Mobile Integrated Health vehicle project receives grant

It's full speed ahead for Cascade Medical Foundation's fundraising campaign to purchase a vehicle for Cascade Medical's new Mobile Integrated Health Program.

CMF has been awarded a $10,000 grant from Confluence Health and Wenatchee Valley Medical Group Community Partnership Fund to be used for the project.

“We are so grateful to be receiving this generous grant from Confluence Health and Wenatchee Valley Medical Group through their Community Partnership Fund!” said Cascade Medical Foundation Chairperson Shannon Keller. “These funds will help us purchase a vehicle for Cascade Medical’s new Mobile Integrated Healthcare program, bringing quality care to our rural community.”

The Mobile Integrated Health program is designed to deliver healthcare to the home, using a specially outfitted vehicle staffed by EMTs and paramedics. Modeled after similar programs in other rural areas, the Mobile Integrated Health program will reach elderly patients, individuals with chronic conditions and those with limited mobility, offering education and clinical support to manage chronic conditions and increase access to vital health services. The goal is to reduce hospital readmissions, improve health outcomes and enhance the overall quality of life for residents within the hospital district by bridging the gap between emergency medical services, ambulance services, the mobile clinic and the primary care provider.

The all-wheel-drive vehicle, anticipated to cost about $67,000, will be equipped with lights and sirens so, if needed, staff can respond to other medical emergencies in addition to helping Cascade Medical patients connect to needed services.

The grant, funded jointly by Confluence Health and the Wenatchee Valley Medical Group (WVMG), the largest physician group affiliated with Confluence Health, is administered by the Community Foundation of North Central Washington. The fund aims to award up to $500,000 each year in grants that focus on health and wellness, education, or arts and culture in Chelan, Douglas, Grant, and Okanogan counties.

Eligible applicants must be either a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, a public agency, or a public school serving students in Chelan, Douglas, Grant, or Okanogan counties. After applying this past summer, Cascade Medical Foundation was awarded a grant by the Community Partnership Fund Committee which reviews all submissions to determine awards.

Grants are awarded each year and can be submitted starting June 1 of each year with an application deadline of July 31. Questions about the application or the process can be directed to Jennifer Short, director of community grants at the Community Foundation, either by email to [email protected] or by calling (509) 663-7716.
