UPDATE: More AEDs coming soon thanks to community generosity
Four new automated external defibrillators (AEDs) will be available in the Upper Valley in 2026 thanks to generous donations made through GiveNCW, the online giving campaign hosted by the Community Foundation of NCW.
Donations from that effort also are helping keep existing units in top condition with fresh batteries and pads.
Every second can mean the difference between life and death. When sudden cardiac arrest strikes, AEDs give bystanders the power to save a life — but only if the devices are close at hand and ready to use.
The devices continue a campaign started more than 5 years ago to place AEDs in businesses and public gathering places throughout the greater Leavenworth area. The AEDs purchased by CMF and hosted by local businesses and organizations are maintained by Cascade Medical's EMS team.
The project that has helped purchase more than 40 of the life-saving devices over the years has included: Cascade School District, Leavenworth Chamber of Commerce, the city of Leavenworth, Leavenworth Rotary, Confluence Health & Wenatchee Valley Medical Group Community Fund as well as individual donations made through the Community Foundation of NCW's online fundraising site, GiveNCW.org.
Many businesses and organizations also have purchased devices on their own. The list of all the AEDs is listed below.(If your business has a device and would like to be included on the list, please email details to [email protected])
Cascade Medical Foundation is continuing to work with Cascade Medical to expand the availability of AEDs throughout the community.
