Lab Equipment — Hematology (Blood) Analyzer

Cascade Medical Foundation raised $70,000 in 2024 to purchase a new hematology analyzer for Cascade Medical's lab. The machine replaces and upgrades aging equipment that had been requiring increased downtime for service.

The analyzer, used 20 to 30 times every day for Cascade Medical patients, counts different types of blood cells and can check the health of those cells. The presence of abnormal blood cells or blood cell counts helps identify problems and guide treatment options for patients with conditions such as anemia, hemochromatosis, infection/sepsis, leukemia/lymphoma, marrow disorders, platelet numbers (contributing to bleeding or clots) and more.

Running a blood sample through hematology analyzer is one of the first steps doctors take to find out what's happening with their patients. A blood sample placed in the machine provides potentially life-saving information in less than a minute.
